BISWANATH CHARIALI: With the assembly election round the corner, Biswanath administration has geared up for the ensuing assembly elections to be held on March 27 in 76 Biswanath and 77 Behali legislative assembly constituencies under the Biswanath Election District.

According to official information, training has been provided to 9 zonal officers and 38 sector officers and also 491 presiding officers and 1,473 first, second and third polling officers have been trained for these purposes so far. A total of 15 all women polling stations have been set up in Biswanath and Behali constituencies. Out of a total of 409 polling booths in two constituencies, 198 main polling stations and 33 auxiliary polling stations have been set up in Biswanath constituency and in addition to 154 main polling stations in Behali constituency, 24 auxiliary polling stations have been set up.

On the other hand, in Biswanath, 37 polling stations have been identified as sensitive and 38 as highly sensitive polling stations, while in Behli, 26 has been identified as sensitive and 33 as highly sensitive polling stations. On the other hand, Biswanath constituency has 82,149 male voters and 80,912 female voters against a total of 1,63,062 voters. There are 1,167 voters over the age of 80, 1,315 differently-abled voters and one transgender voter. Behali has a total of 1,23,279 voters with 62,796 male voters and 60,483 female voters. The total number of voters above 80 years is 887 and the number of differently-abled voters is 483. Further, like other districts of the State, the Biswanath district administration has also arranged for postal ballot voting for voters above 80 years of age, differently-abled voters and COVID-19 affected people.

Meanwhile, the Flying Squad, Static Surveillance team and Video Surveillance teams have been keeping a close watch to ensure that the code of conduct is not violated in Biswanath Election District.
