KOKRAJHAR: The Chief Executive Member (CEM) of Boro Kachari Welfare Autonomous Council (BKWAC) Mihiniswar Basumatary who is also vice president of Assam State BJP on Sunday appealed to the people of Assam and BTR to support the BJP-led Mitrajoot candidates in the 3rd phase election for the interest of indigenous communities of Assam.

Talking to this correspondent, Basumatary said the Congress-led Mahajoot has been exploiting the State over the years, did rampant corruption and indulged in divisive politics.

"This is unfortunate that the Congress-led Mahajoot has taken the fundamentalist force on board which could bring threat to the people of Assam and it is unfortunate for us", he said adding that it was the BJP which has concern for the safety, security and development of indigenous people of Assam. He said the BJP led Mitrajoot will work for the all round development of all indigenous communities in Assam, will wipe out the corruption and nepotism.

Basumatary said that the BJP government in Assam has done a lot of welfare for the indigenous people of Assam, provided pro-poor schemes, brought necessary reforms for tea communities, formed autonomous councils for Koch Rajbongshis, Moran, Motok and Boro Kachari autonomous councils and development councils to Ahom, Chutia etc.

He said the BJP government has assured to end the perennial flood problems and problems of militancy and unemployment in the state.

The CEM of BKWAC reiterated that Hagrama Mohilary-led BPF became directionless and has become a part of Mahajoot that involves in corruption, nepotism and promote fundamentalist activities.

The BJP-led State government has formed the BKWAC for the protection of Constitutional rights, development of education, socio-economy of the Bodos living outside BTR, he said adding that the Boro Kachari people will be able to bring sustainable development through new council in the days to come.

He called upon the people of Assam and BTR to extend support to the Mitrajoot for good cause of indigenous people of the State.
