TEZPUR: A few years earlier, tourism in Assam was a dream for the people of Assam but the present Himanta Biswa Sarma-led government has given maximum importance to the development of tourism industry in the State said by Dr Niranjan Das, tourism entrepreneur and guide, at the inaugural function of boat safari on the might River Brahmaputra in Jahajghat, Tezpur under the banner of Brahmaputra River Tourism, a socio-cultural and economic upliftt organization of Tezpur.

Dr Das also said that the Assam is the focal state in the Northeast region of India and is the best place for river tourism in the country and river riding had a huge tourism potential in Tezpur.

The programme inaugurated by Biraj Nath, chairman of Tezpur Development Authority, in the presence of Senior Journalist, cultural activist, Dip Kumar Kalita, Merina Saikia, teacher and social worker, Bakul Borah, pesident of Brahmaputra River Tourism, Tezpur and other dignitaries.

During the programme, Bakul Borah, president of Brahmaputra River Tourism, said that now, visitors coming to enjoy Tezpur could extend their stay and enjoy boat ride on the Brahmaputra and a glimpse of the river dolphin, too, along with river site of Tezpur. Borah also said that eight destination sites had been selected for river riding from the Jahajghat point to Ganeshghat, Bhairabi Mandir, Hanuman Mandir, Bishnu rava samadhi, Bhomoraguri, Silghat, Biswanath Ghat, Kaziranga.

After the inauguration, Biraj Nath, Professor, Lakhya jyoti Borah, Dhaneswar Tasa and other guests along with media persons started a ride from Jahajghat Point to Bhomoraguri Dolphin point via Ganesh Ghat.
