Numaligarh: Recovery of a body inside the Nambor-Doigrung Wildlife Sanctuary caused a sensation in Murphulani in Golaghat on Thursday.

A group of on-duty foresters first saw the body when they went inside the forest for patrolling. The area lies under the Murphulani forest beat in the Golaghat forest division and under the Bogijan police station. Police reached the spot and recovered the body.

The police identified the deceased as Purnab Nagbanshi, aged about 45 years of Tengahula in the Phulbari area of Murphulani. One forester, among the group of foresters who first saw the body, said, “The body seems to be rotten. It is possible that the person died a few days ago. We also saw a big branch of the tree on his body. It seems that the person might have come inside the forest to cut trees but accidentally the tree fell on him, leading to his death. Police have sent the body for post-mortem and investigation is on. It seems an accident but the actual cause of death will be known only after the pot-mortem report comes.”
