JAMUGURIHAT: 'Naduar' — a book on the historical backdrop and significance of the Naduar area in the Assamese language — written by Karunananda Hatibarua was released at a function held in the premises of the 'Normal Government Practicing School' here on Sunday. The meeting was chaired by Dr Dilip Kumar Bhuyan.

The meeting — held on the occasion of 'Teachers Day' — began with the offering of floral tributes in front of the portrait of philosopher and former President of India, Dr Sarbapalli Radhakrishnan. Alpana Sen Bora highlighted the life and ideology of Dr Radhakrishnan while Pankaj Jyoti Bhuyan released the book.

As the chief guest , Dr Ashok Bora, Head of the Department of Geography, Gauhati University, highlighted the historical significance of Sootea, Jamugurihat and Naduar. He lauded the effort of the author for his endeavour.

Karunananda Hatibaruah conducted the programme. The meeting was addressed by Ramen Bora, Bhaba Saikia, Bishnu Barua, Hemanga Hazarika, Pranab Ojha and Kamala Das.
