Books 'Dristipa' and 'Tangtingali Puran' released at Morigaon

JAGIROAD: Two books namely 'Dristipa' and 'Tangtingali Puran' written by Maneswar Deori, researcher of Tiwa and Assamese language were released on Sunday at a function held at Muhila Home Model School, Morigaon. The open meeting held on the occasion was presided over by Dr. Puniram Pator, noted social worker of Morigaon district. Explaining the purpose of the meeting, Chimal Deori, a former student leader said that Maneswar Deori, a researcher on a comparative study of Tiwa and Assamese languages is the first post graduate in Sanskrit subject from Tiwa community at Gauhati University who took MA degree way back in 1973. He was a first class ACS officer in 1976 and served the people as Executive Magistrate at Dibrugarh for few months. But he resigned from the lucrative ACS post and joined as a subject teacher in Raha and Morigaon HS & MP School. He wrote more than 20 books. Many of them were published by himself and Axom Xahitya Xabha.

At the age of 80, now, he has authored two books which were released on Sunday. Releasing his book 'Dristipat' Ashok Deka, Principal, Muhila Home Model school said that Maneswar Deori's articles are based on objectivity. His book 'Assamese translation of Manu Sanghit' and 'Tiwa Samaj' has received due recognition. The new book 'Dristipat' has cast some new lights on socio economic aspects of society. Another poetry collection of the author namely 'Tangtingali Puran' was released by noted critic Keshab Bora. In the function, the author felicitated his students Dr. Angshuman Das, Dr. Achyut Das, Dr. Hatem Ali and senior journalist of Morigaon Dalim Phukan.
