KOKRAJHAR: The first cabinet meeting of the Boro Kachari Welfare Autonomous Council (BKWAC) was held in Guwahati on Wednesday and it discussed the creation of posts and permanent head office at Sanjari Nwgwr, Simen Chapori in Dhemaji district and regional office in Guwahati for smooth functioning of developmental activities of the council.

Mihiniswar Basumatary, Chief Executive Member (CEM) of BKWAC, stressed the need for creation of posts to run the Head Office at Sanjari Nwgwr, Simen Chapori in Dhemaji district and Regional Office in Guwahati of the council at the earliest while Gambaru Muchahary, chairman, and Romeo P. Narzary, deputy CEM of BKWAC, elaborated the urgent need of fund allocation for construction of Head Office and Regional Office, BKWAC without further delay. CEM Mihiniswar Basumatary said that he would urge the State Government for allocation of Non-Plan fund for smooth functioning of office as per government norms.

Meanwhile, Executive Member Anil Basumatary stressed the need for the fixation of honorarium for the chairman, deputy chairman, Chief Executive Member, deputy Chief Executive Member, Executive Members and general members, BKWAC.

The CEM emphasized budget allocation for welfare and development activities to be executed by the Boro Kachari Welfare Autonomous Council. CEM Mihiniswar Basumatary and EM Anil Basumatary drew attention on the urgent need of completion of the interim council as per the Act.

The meeting resolved to demand for an early notification of Bodo Kachari community inhabitant villages to BKWAC for proper exercising of power and functions bestowed imperative as per the preamble of the Act, 2020 BKWAC and was supported by all members present. The Interim Executive Council resolved to observe the World Environment Day on June 5, 2021 at Sanjari Nwgwr, Simen Chapori. It also resolved to organize awareness programme in village area on the COVID protocol cited by the State and the Union governments to contain the deadly pandemic.

On the other hand, the Executive Council of BKWAC recalled Homen Borgohoin, renowned author, journalist and intellectual of Assam, for his immense contribution to the society, Rana Goswami, former MLA of Assam, Hemen Boro, literary secretary of UBPO, and Ghanashyam Basumatary, former general secretary of South Guwahati Primary BSS.

The Executive Council meeting congratulated Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma for being elected as the Chief Minister of Assam and hoped that under his able and dynamic leadership, the Boro people living under the administrative jurisdiction of Boro Kachari Welfare Autonomous Council in particular and the people of Assam in general would get safety, security and all round development.
