SILCHAR: True to the tradition of maintaining goodwill and friendly relations between India and Bangladesh, the border defence forces of both the countries greet each other with sweetmeats and gifts on important national events and holy occasions. On the holiest of holy occasions like Eid this time, there has been no exception. Strictly adhering to Covid protocol, 07 Bn BSF offered packets of fruits to 52 Bn of Border Guard Bangladesh.

BGB, on the other hand, offered packets of sweetmeats to BSF. It was a touching moment to watch when both the border forces exchanged greetings with all humbleness. It was exactly at 4 in the evening that BSF jawans of 7 Bn entered through Sutarkandi- Sheura border and BGB jawans through Lathitila Iron Bridge border to exchange Eid greetings. The Eid greetings were exchanged on behalf of the Cachar-Mizoram Frontier Inspector General and Sector Commander of BGB, Sreemangal.

While exchanging greetings, officials of both the frontier forces laid stress on maintaining best of relations in the interest of both the countries and for global peace. Such friendly gestures not only contribute towards better bonds but also strengthen trust and mutual understanding for smooth border management. Every year on the occasions of Independence Day, Republic Day, Bijoy Diwas, Eid and Deepavali, BSF and BGB greet each other.
