DHUBRI: 67 Battalion BSF (Border Security Force) under the aegis of Guwahati Frontier of BSF apprehended a Bangladeshi national with Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) having a face value of Rs 49,500 from Baladoba border village of Dhubri district on Saturday.

On a tip-off, BSF troops of Border outpost (BOP) Tistapara of 67 Bn BSF carried out a special operation in the Baladova village close to the Indo-Bangladesh border. Operation party apprehended the accused while he was trying to smuggle the currency from Bangladesh to India, a BSF source informed. The source also informed that the fake currency racketeer has been identified as Kalam Ali(27), resident of Dhanirampur village People under Kachakata Police Station of Kurigram district in Bangladesh.

Kalam Ali was handed over to Dhubri Police with the fake currency. In another operation by Sagolia Police of Dhubri district, more than 17,000 Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) bottles were seized on Saturday.

Police sources informed that the truck was carrying the IMFL in around 600 cartoons concealed behind the bags of corn. The estimated market price of the seized bottles would be around Rs 15 lakh, sources said.
