Based on reliable intelligence, BSF soldiers prevented 100,000 Bangladeshi Taka and a whopping $103,800 USD, worth almost Rs 89 lakh, from being smuggled into Bangladesh from India.

According to reports, the region's vigilant troops swiftly took action to capture those responsible after detecting suspicious activity during usual patrolling.

Authorities seized two fake currency notes, 1,500 sheets of blank paper, and chemicals suspected to be used in producing counterfeit money. A scooter believed to facilitate their operations was also confiscated.

The seized items have been secured for investigation as authorities aim to uncover a broader counterfeit currency network and identify additional suspects involved in the operation.

Last month, a joint operation by the police and CRPF’s 147th Battalion in Assam's Hailakandi district led to the seizure of fake currency notes worth Rs. 1.05 lakh. Conducted in Abdullahpur Part II under Lala Police Station, the raid resulted in the arrest of Abul Hussain Barbhuiya, a betel nut trader, with 210 counterfeit Rs. 500 notes.
