KOKRAJHAR: BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary on Tuesday ceremonially laid the foundation of PMAY (G) houses meant for BPL families at Duramari under Kokrajhar Development Block in Kokrajhar district. He also handed over the sanction letters to the beneficiaries and ensured that all genuine BPL families would get the PMAY (G) houses. The foundation stone laying ceremony was also attended by the Kokrajhar Block Development Officer Niranjay Mashahary (I/C) and BPF leaders.

Talking to reporters, Mohilary said the construction of over 1 lakh houses under PMAY (G) scheme had started across Assam since Tuesday and accordingly, the BTC had also begun the process. He said each beneficiary would get Rs 1.30 lakh in their account for construction of PMAY (G) house in three instalments. He said he had visited the remote Duramari area and talked to the villagers about their basic problems and assured that the road from Duramari ME Madrassa to Hekaipara via Duramari would be constructed and the erosion caused by the Gagra rivulet flowing near the village would also be checked.

Replying to a question on the revoking of Article 370, BTC chief said the decision of the NDA government led by Narendra Modi to revoke the article was laudable. He said it was historic win for the people of India as people of the same country did not get any facility in Jammu and Kashmir but after revoking the article, the people would be able to enjoy all rights and privileges there.

Mohilary said the decision of revoking Article 370 could be translated into reality because of the strong will of Modi and his team. He also hailed the move for creation of Union Territories for Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. He, however, distanced himself from demanding creation of separate state or Union Territory for Bodoland but said that it could take some time.
