ORANG: In a major employment push under the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), chief Pramod Boro on Wednesday formally handed over appointment letters to 276 newly-recruited personnel in Udalguri district, including 68 Anganwadi workers and 208 helpers. The initiative aimed to strengthen grassroots child welfare and nutrition services across the region. Speaking at the event, BTC Executive Member Gautam Das informed that the recruitment was part of a wider drive across all five BTC districts, resulting in 1,081 total appointments. “The process was conducted in a fully transparent and merit-based manner,” Das emphasised, noting that district-level selection boards included the Additional Deputy Commissioner, retired government officials, and former educators to ensure impartiality. Appointments were granted based on academic merit, with a 10% relaxation in eligibility criteria for widows and unmarried women. The announcement has drawn widespread appreciation on local social media, with many lauding BTC’s effort to create jobs while improving services for mothers and children in rural areas.
