BTC Chief Pramod Boro Appeals for COVID Protocol: The Chief Executive Member (CEM) of BTR, Pramod Boro on Thursday called upon people of the region to strictly adhere to the COVID protocol and appealed to them to stay indoors if there was no urgent task. A review meeting on the increasing trend of deadly pandemic was held at the DC's conference hall, Kokrajhar. The meeting discussed the rise in positive cases and fatalities in the district, medical facilities and arrangements for the patients.

The Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner, Bhaskar Phukan briefed about the present scenario of the district, positive cases, fatalities, health facilities and measures taken by the district administration to curb the pandemic.

Don't Take COVID Disease Lightly, Adhere to COVID Protocol

Talking to reporters, the CEM of BTR, Pramod Boro said that the COVID-19 pandemic had become a matter of serious concern in the country that had taken lives of lakhs of people. He called upon people not to take the disease lightly but to adhere to COVID protocol in a strict manner. He asked individuals not to go out if there was no important or urgent task. He also called upon people to maintain social distancing, using face mask, use sanitizer and follow the medical guidelines to break the chain.

Boro said that Kokrajhar district was relatively safe while the situation in Baksa and Udalguri of BTR was worse. "There is no shortage of oxygen cylinders in Kokrajhar and the district has 700 beds for infected patients," he said, adding that the positive cases were increasing in the district but most of them are found in Srirampur inter-State check gate coming from various parts of the country where all arrivals are taken for test. He, however, said every individual had responsibility to contain the deadly pandemic and therefore, called upon all to abide by the instructions of COVID-19.

The meeting was also attended by Minister of Handloom and Textile, Soil Conservation and WPT&BC Urkhao Gwra Brahma and other officials.
