Silchar: Amid the nagging flood, NCC cadets of Cachar College extended a helping hand to school children staying in the college relief camp. Their two-day initiative reflected the core values of the National Cadet Corps — unity, discipline, service and social responsibility.

On the first day of the initiative, NCC cadets spent time with the children in the relief camp by taking informal lessons. This helped the children stay connected to their studies despite the difficult situation. Alongside academic support, the cadets also conducted basic fun, physical activities, bringing smiles and joy to their faces. The day concluded with the distribution of cakes, muffins, and chocolates among the children.

The second day of the initiative focused on teaching the children important life-saving skills. The cadets showed how to clean dirty water using everyday household items, which is very helpful when clean water is hard to find after floods. They also demonstrated how to make a life jacket with plastic bottles in case of an emergency.

The initiative was carried out under the guidance of Dr Joyobrato Nath and Ankita Ghosh, Caretaker Officer of NCC, who closely supervised the cadets’ efforts and arranged all necessary support.

The NCC unit of Cachar College extends heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Sudip Kumar Das, Head of the Department of Bengali, Cachar College, and Sanjana Singh, an ex-NCC cadet, for joining the team at the relief camp and bringing chocolates, muffins and cakes for the children.
