Cachar police bust bike lifter gang: 20 two-wheelers including 9 bikes and 11 scooties recovered

SILCHAR: Cachar police in a successful drive had busted a gang involved in bike lifting on Wednesday. Altogether 20 two wheelers including 9 motor bikes and 11 scooties had been recovered while police had arrested 8 persons. Those who had been detained included Nanda Babu Singh, a resident of Rongpur in Silchar had contested Assembly election in 2011 in Udharbond constituency as an AIUDF candidate. However since then he had distanced himself from the AIUDF. Sources said, Singh was the kingpin of the gang which had its net spread over in neighbouring states like Manipur, Mizoram and Meghalaya. Even parts of the bikes were being sold in Bangladesh.
