SILCHAR: Yet another successful raid against smuggling racket by the Cachar police yielded in the seizing of banned narcotic substances worth Rs 15 crores. Two persons, both from Churachandpur of Manipur, were also apprehended.

The Cachar SP Numol Mahatta said, based on credible intelligence, that a special police team conducted an operation on Saturday evening against the illegal transportation of narcotic substances near Ghoongur bye pass. Police intercepted a Maruti Gypsy vehicle coming from Aizawl and apprehended 2 persons. They were identified as Vanlallien and Sonpao Fanai. During the search of the vehicle, the police team recovered 5 packets containing 50,000 Yaba tablets kept concealed in the spare tyre. The price of the narcotics substance in the black market is about Rs 15 (fifteen) crores, Mahatta claimed. The vehicle was also seized. The consignment of the narcotics substance is suspected to have been illegally transported from Churachandpur, Mahatta added.
