Howly (Barpeta): A candlelight march was taken out by hundreds of people in Howly, Barpeta district, seeking justice of the 19-year-old girl, who was brutally raped and murdered in Bangalore. The protestors included students too. Locals as well as students' organisations took out a massive candlelight rally in Howly town, after the funeral of the girl. The protesting mass demanded justice for her.

In a horrific incident, a girl from Barpeta was raped in Bangalore on December 16. She went to Bangalore for a course in nursing in East-West College, Bangalore. The family members of the victim said that her admission was done through a youth named Anisur Rahman, who is from Assam's Goalpara district.

According to the police, preliminary investigations suggested that the victim was first raped and then murdered. The Bangalore police had already arrested the prime accused, Anisur Rahman and registered a case at Byadarahalli police station based on a complaint.

She was dropped by her family members at the institute on December 14 after her enrolment at the college. Later on December 16, the body of the 19-year old was recovered in mysterious conditions. She was declared 'brought dead' by Anupama Hospital in Yelahanka, Bangalore. Her family has alleged that she was taken to Bangalore by an education agent who along with two other persons are involved in the murder. Moreover, the victim's family said that the police should speed up their investigation in the matter.

Various organisations have demanded the accused to be hanged for his heinous crime. A resident from the victim's native said, "The accused is a friend of her brother. He was helping her with the admission, too. On Wednesday, the victim went to the accuser's residence, and later she was found in a pool of blood by locals of the area."

"If she was raped and then murdered we want all the accused to be punished rigorously and want capital punishment for all of them," he added.
