CEM Tuliram Ronghang Calls Upon the Youth to Showcase their Culture

Donkamukam: “A person learning multiple languages is a talent, but mother tongue should be first we should love”. This was stated by KAAC CEM Tuliram Ronghang while attending as chief guest to open Cultural Day in memory of Lt Basapi Teronpi (CEMs mother) on the concluding day of the 3rd All Karbi Anglong Inter College Karbi Cultural Competition held from August 27-30, 2019 on Friday at Donkamukam, Waisong Stadium West Karbi Anglong organised by Karbi Loh-Charli Jutang Aterank(KLJA). He further said that their rich traditional cultures and values need to get showcased to the world and ask every individual to put their hands together.

“The present generation who are College goers is exceptionally talented if they are taking pain to uphold our traditional culture when western is knocking at our door, then we Karbis are nothing to be worried off ” Tuliram further said. There are certain Ex-Bureacrates and intellectuals in our society who are misguiding our youth politically, need to be very cautious, he said.

CEM KAAC Tuliram finally urged today’s youths not to politicalise culture for greater interest of the community. MP Horensing Hey in his speech asked the organizers to be competitive among Colleges in Cultural Dance. “Competition brings improvements”, he said. At the function KLJA submitted memo addressing CEM to provide land for office building and an annual fund to hold inter cultural meet. Huge participation was seen in the three days programme and over 512 college students got registered from different colleges of the twin districts.

The programme was also attended by MLA Dr Mansing Rongpi, MAC Richard Tokbi and many leaders of the locality. Earlier CEM KAAC Tuliram Ronghang in presence of MP Horensing Bey MLA Dr Mansing Rongpi and E M MS Timung laid foundation stone to construct Irrigation Inspection Bunglow at Jengkha Market from sanctioned amount of a little over Rs 1.5 crores.
