Cheque distributed to COVID-19 widow in Haflong

HAFLONG: Haflong ST LAC MLA, Nandita Gorlosa along with North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council Executive Member, Samuel Changsan in presence of Dima Hasao Deputy Commissioner, Nazreen Ahmed distributed a cheque amounting to rupees 2.5 lakhs to the widow of a deceased Haiwang Kambe Jeme who lost his life due to COVID-19.

A one-time financial help scheme was started by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to the widows who lost their husbands due to COVID-19. 65 year old widow from Lodi village of Haflong town area had lost her husband in July last. She is left with 5 children who are students. This assistance offered by the government will help them to lead a life with dignity. The minimum eligibility criteria of this financial assistance are that neither of the deceased husband nor the beneficiary wife should be in government service.
