Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal urges students to study with sincerity

GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said that in the competitive world today, students must study with discipline, sincerity, dedication and hardwork to excel and make themselves successful. He also called upon parents and teachers to provide the students with favourable environment for honing their latent talents. The Chief Minister made this call while attending the silver jubilee celebration of Howly Sankardev Shishu Niketan in Barpeta district on Sunday.

Stating that while Anundoram Baruah and Dr. Bhupen Hazarika gave a distinct identity to Assam in the field of academics and culture respectively, he made a call to the students to take a pledge to follow their footsteps to make the State proud.

He said that the State government following the principle of inclusive development is working to ensure equal progress of all sections of society in the State. He observed that for Assam to make its presence felt in the global arena, there is a need to identify her strengths and weaknesses. Chief Minister Sonowal also informed that the State government has taken up an initiative called “Discovery of Assam” to find out the potential and possibilities of the State.

Moreover, the Chief Minister said that as part of the State government’s commitment to secure the rights and interests of the local people, his government has taken up steps to conduct survey of all non-cadastral villages. Further distribution of land patta to landless local families with a target to cover one lakh families within this year has been started. The Chief Minister also highlighted many anomalies of the previous government in the education sector and said efforts are on to make the education department capable of facing the modern age challenges.

Chief Minister’s Media Advisor Hrishikesh Goswami, MLAs Ranjeet Kumar Dass and Gunindra Nath Das also spoke on the occasion, stated a press release.
