Citizenship (Amendment) Act will not affect election: Ranjeet Kumar Dass

PATHSALA: Ranjeet Kumar Dass, State president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and BJP candidate of Patacharkuchi LAC, wants to upgrade the constituency into a prestigious one like Jalukbari, Majuli and Tezpur in the coming days as the constituency is lagging behind in development activities. He expressed confidence that he would be able to win the assembly seat in the ensuing election.

Taking to the mediapersons at Patacharkuchi Press Club he said that the Citizenship (Amendment) Act would not affect the election and it would increase the votes of the party. In the coming days, he stressed amendment of CAA to give the opportunity of the people of Rabha, Garo and Koch communities who are still in Bangladesh to become citizens of the state. He said that he would not like to promise the people of the constituency about specific works but he would interact with the people of the constituency and after discussion, the scope for development would be surveyed and the development works would be implemented if he was voted to power. Dass also alleged that the previous MLA failed to develop the constituency and the condition of major roads was still deplorable. About the Sixth Schedule, he said that the government would complete the delimitation of the constituency for implementation of the Sixth Schedule.
