GUWAHATI: While people in Assam were busy celebrating Magh Bihu with their dear ones, the CM of Assam decided to take a drive to the state Zoo. 

CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday, visited the Guwahati zoo and scrutinised the development tasks of the place. During this period, the CM declared that the place will be transformed into a major tourist spot, soon. 

He drove inside the Zoo premises and looked after the current scenario and development tasks that has been made by the concerned authorities. 

The CM further directed the zoo authorities to groom the space and give it a transformation without disturbing the flora and fauna. The CM after his visit to the zoo, tweeted from his official handle, and expressed his happiness regarding the same.

He mentioned in his tweet that the zoo is going to get a major facelift and will be converted into one of the most beautiful tourist spot of the region. Sarma during his time inside the premises, discussed bits and pieces of ways on to how the place will be transformed.

He discussed with officials of the place to add certain more facilities. The CM advised to construct a botanical garden along with a night safari inside the premises. The CM also fed the macaws inside the zoo.

He mentioned about this in his tweet, terming the experience as refreshing and lovely. Pictures of CM feeding the cute macaws were all over the social media. In the pictures, few parrots were also seen sitting in Himanta Biswa Sarma's shoulder.

The state zoo in Guwahati is spread across 432 acres of land. It is considered as the largest zoo in entire Northeast region with approximately 113 species of fauna.
