TANGLA: Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma brought the BJP's 'Vijay Sankalp Yatra' campaign to Tangla Stadium in Udalguri district on Wednesday, rallying support for BJP candidate Bikan Chandra Deka ahead of the April 9 polls.
The NDA's campaign in Tangla LAC has the backing of alliance partners Bodoland People's Front (BPF) and Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), and Sarma used the platform to make a direct appeal to voters across community, caste, and religious lines.

Sarma struck a confident note on the overall election outlook, pointing to strong turnout at public meetings — particularly among women and young voters — as evidence of momentum in the NDA's favour.
He asserted that the BJP-led alliance would form the next government with more than 90 seats out of the 126 in the Assam Legislative Assembly.
On governance, the Chief Minister renewed his commitment to a corruption-free appointments process, promising that government jobs would be filled transparently and without bribery.
He announced that nearly two lakh new government jobs would be created in the coming years — a pledge aimed squarely at the large number of young voters who turned out for the rally.
"Vote for the lotus symbol regardless of community, caste, or religion," Sarma said, framing the BJP's pitch as one built on development and clean governance rather than identity politics.
The Chief Minister also laid out a specific list of development projects earmarked for the Tangla area, should the NDA return to power. These include a Railway overbridge at Tangla, bridges over the Kulshi river and the Shuklai-Kala river in Bhalukpung, development of the Rangthali playground stadium, provincialization of Paneri College, repair of the Mangaldai-Bhutiachang road, and a government law college in Tangla.
The project-specific commitments appeared designed to give local voters a concrete picture of what another NDA term would mean for the constituency.
