CM Sarbananda Sonowal distributes scooters to meritorious girl students at Dibrugarh

Meritorious girl students from Dibrugarh received scooters from Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal at a function in Chaulkhowa in Dibrugarh.

GUWAHATI, Jan 16: Chief Minister SarbanandaSonowal on Saturday distributed scooters to altogether 1278 meritorious girl students of Dibrugarh district who passed the higher secondary examination for the year 2020 in first division as a part of Dr. Banikanta Kakati Merit Award under 'Pragyan Bharati' Scheme in a function organised by district administration at Chaulkhowa in Dibrugarh.

Chief Minister Sonowal while speaking on the occasion said that the merit award was aimed at motivating the girl students in the field of education so that they could lead the society in all spheres. He said that in the age of science & technology, the students needed to be more capable and efficient to cope up with the changing circumstances, stated a release.

Stating that the State government undertook several initiatives for augmenting academic infrastructure, the Chief Minister underlined the importance of taking up academics more sincerely by the students. He also called for collective efforts by teachers, parents and students for boosting positive educational environment which could help the younger generation to make a mark in the global platform. He also urged students to work hard to be successful in life.

Saying that corruption had a debilitating effect on the administrative machinery during the tenure of the previous government, the Chief Minister observed that committed efforts were made unrelenting by the present government to bring more transparency giving new hope to the youth in the State. He also highlighted the initiatives taken by the State government to maintain peace and law & order and said that since the government came to power no ethnic violence took place in Assam. He attributed this success to the people and expressed gratitude for their cooperation in maintaining peace in the State.

Moreover, underling the possibilities that emerged following the implementation of "Act East Policy", the Chief Minister urged the people of the State to put joint efforts to develop Assam as a recognizable force in the south east Asian nations. He also called upon people to dedicate themselves for realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for an Atmanirbhar Assam and make India stronger. He also thanked the Prime Minister for rolling out the COVID-19 vaccination drive.

Union Minister of State for Food Processing Industries RameswarTeli, MLAs Prasanta Phukan and Rituparna Baruah also spoke on the occasion. Vice Chancellor of Dibrugarh University Dr. Ranjit Tamuli, MLAs Binod Hazarika, Bimal Bora, Teros Gowala, Chakradhar Gogoi and Naren Sonowal, CEM of Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Council Dipu Ranjan Makrari, chaiman of Assam Hydrocarbon & Energy Company Limited Punakon Baruah, vice chairman of Assam State Housing Board Subhas Dutta, vice chairman of Assam Gas Company Indra Gogoi, deputy commissioner Pallab Gopal Jha, SP Prateek Vijay Thoube and several other dignitaries were present in the function.
