LAKHIMPUR: The celebration of Rongali Bihu by various Bihu committees, organizations and institutions continues in Lakhimpur district amid the blended notes of Bihu nam with the dance form, traditional-musical instruments like dhol, pepa, gagana.

On Saturday, College of Teacher Education, Dhakuakhana celebrated the festival in the college campus with due pomp and gaiety by organizing a colourful event titled 'Bohagi Rang'. The college, which not only caters to the educational need of the people, but also renders remarkable contributions to various fields by shouldering the social responsibility, organized the event in view of preserving the tradition of celebrating the festival in its original form. The event was inaugurated by Dulu Saikia, the Principal of Paschim Dhakuakhana Higher Secondary School. She delivered her lecture on the evolution and tradition of Bihu culture in the State.

Principal of the College of Teacher Education, Dhakuakhana, Pradip Chandra Borah inaugurated the Kapou Phool (Rhynchostylis retusa, also called foxtail orchid) plantation drive with the participation of the trainers and trainees of the college. It was followed by an exhibition of traditional Bihu delicacies prepared by the trainees. Then the trainers and trainees of the college unitedly showcased the Mukoli Bihu by wearing the traditional attires. Former trainees of the college also took part in the event with due enthusiasm.
