Congress Managed Only 6 Hospitals in 60 Years, BJP Built 11 in 5 Years: Ranjeet Dass

GUWAHATI: Assam Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Ranjeet Dass said that on the basis of work done by BJP in Assam, the party will be able to form a government this 2021 election.

Taking a jibe at the Congress party, the state BJP president said, "Congress managed only 6 hospitals in 60 years, while we built 11 in 5 years including AIIMS."

Meanwhile, speaking on the seat-sharing with its alliance, Dass said that on March 4, the party discussed the distribution of 86 seats to BJP, AGP and UUPL.

However, no discussion on AGP's seats, as we have left for them to decide and the final numbers to be told by the national president and AGP chief, Atul Bora.

Further, the Bharatiya Janata Party is said to announce the list of its candidates for the first and second phases of the Assam Assembly elections on Friday, March 5.

Dass also said that the BJP and its allies would secure at least 100 seats out of a total of 126 seats in the state Legislative Assembly.

Meanwhile, the state's Finance Minister and BJP leader, Himanta Biswa Sarma claimed the photos from Taiwan were being used by Congress on its Assam campaign page.

Notably, Sarma took to his Twitter and wrote, "First Congress couldn't identify Assam, now Congress can't even recognise Assamese people. This is again a pic from Taiwan. Congress leaders have forgotten Assam. Let's show @INCIndia how beautiful our land is."

"Official Congress campaign page is using a photo of tea garden from Taiwan to say 'Assam Bachao' (Save Assam). Congress leaders can't even recognise Assam? This is an insult of Assam and Tea Garden workers of our state," Sarma tweeted, sharing a screenshot of one of the photos.

However reacting to the state minister's allegation, Congress rubbished Himanta Biswa's claim and said it to be "fake".

The party has also decided to lodge a complaint with the Election Commission of India.

Assam Assembly elections will be held in three phases beginning from March 27 with the final round of voting taking place on April 6.

The counting of votes in the state will take place on May 2.
