Congress worker Nilutpol Borah assaulted in Gaurisagar; case registered

GAURISAGAR: Sensation prevails at Gaurisagar following the assault on Nilutpol (Nanu) Borah, a Congress worker of Gaurisagar, allegedly by a Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) activist Ananta Borah of village Dikhowmukh Dhanekhowa on Tuesday.

The incident took place when Nilutpol Borah reached Gaurisagar from Teok where he had gone for some work. Ananta Borah came in an Indigo ECS car (no number) and allegedly attacked Nilutpol from behind. Nilutpol received serious injury on the head. Local people immediately admitted him at Gaurisagar the BPHC for primary treatment. Nilutpol told media persons that he had lodged an FIR (First Information Report) at Gaurisagar Police Station before the Assam Assembly election against two persons for allegedly using unparliamentary words against Amguri Congress leader Dr Angkita Dutta in the social media.

Nilutpol alleged that Ananta Borah had threatened him to withdrawa the FIR. Nilutpol has lodged an FIR at Gaurisagar police station against Ananta Borah. Gaurisagar Police have registered a case (46/2021 under IPC 325/506/34) in this regard. Further investigation is going.
