NAGAON: The district body of Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) on Wednesday opposed the State Government's recent initiative to shut down the old Nagaon Swahid Bhugeswari Phokonani Civil Hospital. Rather, the district unit of the youth organization demanded that it should continue with almost all medical facilities along with the proposed Mahkhuli-based Nagaon Medical College and Hospital.
In a press note signed by Pragjyotish Bonia and Parthapratim Bairagi, the president and in-charge secretary of the district unit respectively, it was stated that the government should keep the old Nagaon BP Civil Hospital functioning for emergency medical services as it is situated in the heart of the small town and people from all corners of the district as well as other neighbouring districts can avail emergency medical services.
The organization also sought minimum 200 beds in the old civil hospital. The organization warned that if the government paid no heed to their appeal, the organization would go for massive democratic move in the days to come.
