JORHAT: Jorhat district goes to polls on March 27, with Jorhat electoral district having three Assembly constituencies - Jorhat, Teok and Dergaon- under it and Titabar electoral district having two constituencies -Titabar and Mariani.

Addressing a press conference, Jorhat Deputy Commissioner Rashni A Korati on Thursday said that a COVID-19 positive patient would also be allowed to vote in the last hour after wearing a PPE kit. She said that apart from gloves, the voters would have to wear masks and temperature of every voter would be checked.

"If someone is found to have high temperature then he/ she will be allowed to sit for some time outside the booth in a shade to see if the temperature comes down as it may be due to the heat," she said. "If someone does not wear a mask, a few masks will also be made available at the booth for those people,"she added.

Apart from these safety measures, sanitizers and distance of 6 feet will be marked. In Jorhat district, unaccounted cash of Rs 2,14,009 has been seized and 41,18,920 litres of liquor has also been seized, Korati further informed.

The number of complaints which the administration has received is 45, mostly of postering which have been disposed off at an average time of 52 minutes. In Jorhat and Titabar electoral districts, 3,454 postal ballots have been collected from 80 years above voters and PwD voters.
