LAKHIMPUR: The COVID-19 pandemic situation continues to worsen in Lakhimpur district. A total of 211 COVID-19 cases were detected in the district on Wednesday. Out of them 195 detected cases were detected as per Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) and rest 16 cases were found positive for the novel coronavirus infection as per Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RTPCR) Test.

On this day, the District Health Department conducted 6,465 RATs in the nine COVID-19 test centres of the district, including the Block Primary Health Centres (BPHCs) and private nursing homes and registered 94.24 per cent achievement in conducting the RAT in order to detect COVID-19 patients out of the targeted figure of 6,860. The detected cases were reported from North Lakhimpur Urban Hospital (5), Dhalpur BPHC (14), Bihpuriya BPHC (23), Naoboicha BPHC (97), Boginadi BPHC (15), Ghilamora BPHC (5), Dhakuakhana BPHC (10), Lakhimpur Medical College and Hospital Respiratory Clinic (21) and private nursing homes (6).

With these fresh patients, the cumulative total of COVID-19 cases of the district has hiked to 7,617 since April 1 of this year. Out of them, 6,381 recovered patients have been discharged from hospitals and home quarantine while 1,156 are active cases at present.
