DIBRUGARH: A 200-bedded COVID Care Centre (CCC) will be set up at Khanikar on the outskirts of Dibrugarh town.
Disclosing this to the media at a press conference held at the Deputy Commissioner's conference room on Tuesday, Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha said, "The district administration has initiated necessary steps for setting up of CCC at Khanikar keeping in view the sudden surge of coronavirus infection in the district." He further stated that the district administration, meanwhile, had set up three CCCs at DHSK College Girls' Hostel, MDKG College and Jawahar Navoday Vidyalaya at Moran where presently 207 COVID-19 detected people were staying under necessary supervision.
Jha further said, "We are also exploring all means to set up more CCCs in all revenue circles of the district in order to cope up with the situation."
Moreover, those people who have symptoms of COVID infection, the Health Department and district administration have sent them either to AMCH or to Jokai and Lezai Kolakhowa Model Hospital. Necessary measures have been stepped up to make 64 more beds available at the model hospitals of Naharkotiya, Chabua, Lengeri and Tengakhat Subdivision /model hospitals in order to provide treatment to more people. Simultaneously, the hotels in Dibrugarh which are presently used as COVID quarantine centres, are to be transformed into CCCs for patients without COVID symptoms and necessary negotiations are in the process with a section of private health care institutions and hotels to convert them into paid centres with COVID care facility, Jha added. He also said that the administration was also planning to set up screening centres for screening of more COVID patients in the district. The Superintendent of Police, Sreejit T and Additional Deputy Commissioner Dipu Kumar Deka were also present at the press conference.
