Dibrugarh: The All Assam Dance and Singing Competition was organized by Sangeetam – a socio-cultural organization – in four categories recently. Around 100 participants from Jorhat, Sivasagar, Tinsukia and Dibrugarh participated in each of the competitions. Chief advisor of Sangeetam, Ikbal Ahmed inaugurated the event. He lauded the efforts of the members and held the coordination and synchronization among the members of Sangeetam as the main reason behind its success. It was followed by dance competition, followed by singing competition and open meeting-cum-prize distribution ceremony on Monday.

The chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony was former General Manager of Coal India Limited and a prolific writer, poet and lyricist, Dr. Ranjit Dutta. He said that the world of artistes was completely different from the rest. At a time when the world was divided over so many contentious issues, art and culture was one such rare domain people liked turning to.

Dr Dutta lauded the efforts of the organization to bring so many children on a common platform for such a unifying purpose. Seeing the performance of the children, he also offered a personal donation of Rs 10,000 to the organization. Honoured guest at the event was an observer of All Assam Poet Association, Jogesh Bikash Gogoi. He recited one of his self-composed poems and encouraged the members to pursue similar efforts in the future. Chief advisor Dr. Amarendra Phukan was also present at the ceremony. The winners of the first, second and third prize of the dance competition were able to secure direct entry into the State level dance reality show Show Your Move.
