MANGALDAI: Deputy Commissioner of Darrang, Dilip Kumar Borah has warned COVID protocol violators with severe legal action.

Taking part in the meeting of the District-level Task Force on Coronavirus, Deputy Commissioner Borah stated that the district administration would take stern steps, and if required even 'unpopular' steps, to ensure that the spread of the virus remains under control in the district. He added that the safety of the public of Darrang was paramount for him and that he would not allow a handful of careless people to play with the safety of the others. Deputy Commissioner Borah further appealed to the members of the task force to brace up for a long battle against coronavirus, while requesting them to extend all help to the grassroots-level health workers.

He also stressed finding the source of infection whenever a COVID-19 positive case was detected in the district, as this was considered the most efficient way to stem the control of the epidemic. In the meeting, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Health) Panchami Choudhury and Joint Director of Health Services Dr. Rup Lal Noonisa, as member secretary and secretary respectively, stated the measures taken by the health department would mitigate any eventuality in the fight against Coronavirus. The other members of the task force also outlined the various measures the respective departments and offices had taken to stem the spread of coronavirus in the district.

Superintendent of Police Amrit Kumar Bhuyan, Additional Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Deka, DIPRO Ayan Hazarika, the Circle Officers of the district as the members of the task force also attended the meeting.

The district administration, in consultation with the Health department, meanwhile has arranged for coronavirus vaccination in Darrang district at Mangaldai Civil Hospital, Mangaldai UHC, Patharighat BPHC, Niz Dahi MPHC, Ramhari SHC, Sipajhar BPHC, Chamuapara MPHC, Dalgaon SD, Deumornoi CHC, Dhula MPHC, Dumnichowki SD, Duni MPHC, Garukhuti MPHC, Gosaigaon MPHC near Mangaldai town, Hazarikapara MPHC, Hengalpara MPHC, Jaljali BPHC, Rangamati MPHC and Kharupetia BPHC.
