MANGALDAI: As Assam Police is going to be bestowed with the President's Colour on May 10 in recognition of the dedicated and exemplary service to the nation, all ranks of Assam Police have undertaken various programmes to celebrate this rare honour.

Darrang Police on Sunday morning organized a cyclothon with active participation of jubilant and enthusiastic cyclists of police and members of Village Defence Organization throughout the main thoroughfare in and around Mangaldai. Officer in-charge of Mangaldai Police Station, Inspector Mukut Kakati along with other police officials, Principal of Mangaldai College Dr Kamala Kanta Bora and other prominent citizens also took part in the cyclothon flagged off by Deputy Superintdndent of Police (HQ) Pranjal Bora at Police Reserve here.

On the other hand, a large number of budding talents led by artiste of repute Mantu Kumar Das took part in the wall painting competition at Police Guest House here. The inquisitive young artistes painted the boundary wall of Police Guest House with the pictures of the legendary persons of the state with the theme of peace and prosperity and the spirit of patriotism.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, on behalf of the President of India, will ceremonially offer the President's Colour to Assam Police at a function organized at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra on May 10.
