Darrang Police crack murder case of handcart puller in 24 hours

MANGALDAI: The Darrang Police, in a significant achievement, that too within a very short period of 24 hours, solved the mystery of the death of a handcart puller. He was found dead at village Howly Mohanpur (Areng) of Mangaldai on the night of December 22.

The deceased was identified as one Shadulla Sheikh (65) of village No. 2 Bezpara (Telisipara) under the Mangaldai Police Station. Significantly, the son of the deceased, Mohibul Hoque had lodged an FIR at Mangaldai Police Station accusing three persons, namely Ramen Bora, Krishna Hazarika, and Nirala Hazarika, for their involvement in the killing of his father and accordingly the police picked up all the three persons. However, during the prompt investigation conducted by the police as per the direction of Superintendent of Police Amrit Bhuyan, Mangaldai Police gathered vital information about the killing and arrested three persons in this connection. They have been identified as Narendra Deka (52), Hem Chandra Deka (50) and Giri Dhar Deka (59) –all of the village Howly Mohanpur. All the three accused persons have been booked in connection with Mangaldai Police Station case no.1014/19 under section 302/201/ 34 of Indian Penal Code. The accused persons were produced before the judicial court on Tuesday which remanded them to police custody for interrogation.

According to information, an illicit relationship with a woman of the locality is connected with the murder of the poor handcart puller. Though no physical injury marks were noticed on the

body of the deceased at the time of the post-mortem examination performed at Mangaldai Civil Hospital, it has been gathered that the blows on the chest and back of the deceased had caused the instant death of the deceased. Officer-in-charge of Mangaldai Police Station,

Inspector Niranjan Barua took the initiative for the prompt investigation while Deputy Inspector General of Police of Central Western Range, Brajenjit Singha personally supervised the investigation process and also visited the spot.
