MANGALDAI: In a heartfelt and unique initiative, Darrang Police on Saturday organized a reunion ceremony for the first time in the district which was attended by a total of 110 retired police officials of different rank at the Darrang Police Reserve. In the function presided over by Superintendent of Police Prakash Sonowal, retired police officers and personnel shared their experiences and feelings. Additional Superintendent of Police Rosy Talukdar and Ima Das, Deputy Superintendent of Police Kunja Lal Patar and senior journalist Mayukh Goswami also attended the ceremony.
The ceremony began with a thoughtful gesture, where each participant was greeted with a phulam bihuwan and a sapling. Retired Officer of Assam Police Service Debendra Nath Deka and senior journalist Bhargab Kumar Das taking part in the function expressed their gratitude to the retired police personnel for their courageous service to society that too in a difficult period. They also encouraged them to engage in social work, building a better future for generations to come.
To address the grievances of retired police officers and personnel, a district level committee was formed, and it was decided to set up such committees at the Police Station level. This exceptional initiative of Superintendent of Police Prakash Sonowal demonstrating his commitment and support to the retired police personnel has widely been appreciated.
