Darrang Police seized Two beer-loaded containers at NRL oil pump in Punia

MANGALDAI: Darrang Police, based on a tip off on April 22 at about 7 pm, seized two containers loaded with beer parked at NRL oil pump at Punia near here. The police team on reaching the spot found both the vehicles bearing registration numbers NL 01 L 6374 and RJ 52G A 1305. On being asked, both the drivers stated that both the vehicles have been detained at that place by a team of Enforcement staff of Darrang since March 23 and a case against them was being investigated by the said enforcement team. They produced the seizure list as a proof in this regard.

The concerned Enforcement Inspector who signed the seizure list was duly contacted who admitted that the vehicles were in fact seized by them. Thereafter both the containers were brought to Mangaldai Police Station for further verification. The Police not being satisfied with the statements of both the drivers and the manager of the transport company and as they failed to substantiate their claim regarding genuineness of the consignment within permissible time, a case vide Mangaldai PS case number 235/2020 u/s 379 IPC has been registered against the driver of the container no. NL 01L 6374 Kiron Saikia (32), son of late Hemo Saikia of village Dhenudhora under Gohpur Police Station, driver of container number RJ 52 GA 1305 Ranjan Haloi (22), son of Karthik Haloi of village Borgang Bazar under Borgang Police Station (both under Biswanath Chariali district) and Manager of SGC Logistics, Bashistha Chariali in Guwahati Dinesh Sarma, son of Mohonlal C/O SGC Logistics of Basistha in Guwahati and has arrested the trio.
