NAGAON: A daring broad daylight burglary took place at Nagaon irrigation colony near Nagaon town Teliagaon, adjacent to Nagaon town on Wednesday. Burglars targeted the residence of department employee Nirmali Bora, making off with cash and gold jewellery worth a substantial amount.
According to sources, the incident occurred when Nirmali Bora and her husband were away, having gone to pick up their child from school and to attend some work in the Raidangia area, respectively. The burglars, taking advantage of the absence, broke into the house through the back door and ransacked the premises. The stolen items include approximately Rs 20,000 in cash and gold ornaments. Nirmali Bora learnt about the burglary upon returning home, leaving her distraught. The news of the burglary spread quickly, causing a commotion in the colony. The police were informed, and an investigation is underway. However, no arrests have been made till the time of filing this report.
