TINSUKIA: The Tinsukia district administration has expressed its displeasure over the comment on an executive magistrate by the Tinsukia Bar Association in reference to sealing and de-sealing of a hotel and ongoing eviction of encroachment.

In a press meet convened by the Deputy Commissioner of Tinsukia, Narsing Pawar on Friday at the DC's conference hall, Pawar opined that the media trial resorted by an institution like Tinsukia Bar Association against another institution like civil administration was unwarranted when the former had no business on eviction exercises. The issue revolved around the sealing of Hotel Mirana following seizure of huge quantity of illegal liquor from two hotel rooms on June 11.

An executive magistrate armed with a magisterial order was refrained from sealing the hotel after a review petition from the hotel management was accepted by the session court on June 13. This issue snowballed into a controversy vis-à-vis demolition of Apu's Restaurant on June 2. The president of Tinsukia Bar Association allegedly used derogatory remarks against the executive magistrate before few media persons that irked the district administration.

As demolition of Apu's Restaurant and seizure of illegal liquor from Hotel Mirana Hotel evoked controversies in recent times and the administration allegedly showed disparity, DC Pawar, while clarifying volley of questions from media persons, stated that action was initiated against Apu's Restaurant primarily because it defied the administration's directive despite being booked for selling illegal liquor and running hotel on encroached government land. In the Hotel Mirana Hotel case, Pawar, admitted that there were lapses on the part of the ADC who issued the sealing order, though he maintained that the court asked the administration for review of the order which refrained the administration from sealing the hotel even as police had been asked to carry out detailed investigation, Pawar said.
