Decision to set up Sati Sadhani varsity welcomed in Golaghat

MERAPANI: The decision of the State government to establish a State university in Golaghat district in memory of Virangana Sati Sadhani of the Chutia dynasty and to declare a state holiday on Sati Sadhani Divas has been welcomed by the Chutia Jati Sanmiloni Assam, said Bitupon Saikia, the president of the association. Along with it, the Yuva Sanmilon, Mahila Sanmilon, and Satra Sanmilon have also welcomed the government’s decision. Besides granting special facilities to the students, the government has also allotted about Rs 125 crore for the all-round development of the community. The organizations have now demanded the government grant ST status to the community.
