2024 Brings Agricultural Success for Demow with Pumpkin Export to Kolkata and Lablab Beans to London

DEMOW: The year 2024 was a mixed affair for the people of Demow and its surrounding areas. At the beginning of the year January 2024, under the supervision of the Agriculture Department in Mahkhuwa Chapori, Hemanta Taw, through the Agriculture Department, pumpkins were cultivated on 50 acres of land. In the first phase, 50 tonnes of pumpkins were exported to Kolkata. On the other hand, in the same month (January) 2024, for the second time, 1000 kilograms of Lablab Beans (Urohi) produced by the farmers of Dihingparia FPC in Nitaipukhuri of Sivasagar district were exported to London.

In the same month, Bhargab Krishna Hazarika, son of Pankaj Hazarika and Parishmita Hazarika, secured the 24th rank at the All India level in Paragraph Writing in the Class-III to Class-V category of the Project Veer Gatha 3.0 contest.

In March, in Sports, Abhijit Buragohain, who hails from the Nitaipukhuri area near Demow of Sivasagar district, clinched a gold medal in the 60 kg category for Junior Boys representing the India Wushu Team at the Wushu Star International Championship 2024 held in Moscow. In the same month, a man was killed by a herd of wild elephants in the Sonokpora area when he went to bring his cow from the Sapori area.

In May, Aditya Raidongia, son of Bimal Raidongia and Mira Raidongia, and a resident of Demow Barua Changmai Gaon, cleared the MBBS examinations from Tezpur Medical College and Hospital. Aditya Raidongia’s father works as a salesman in a pharmacy. In the same month, sad news came when the body of Ponkhi Handique, daughter of Bhairab Handique and Dipika Handique, and a resident of Nitaipukhuri Duwarisiga Gaon near Demow, was recovered in a rented house in Namrup on May 3.

In July, Moyur Krishna Gogoi, daughter of Purabi Chetia Gogoi who hails from Godhabil Gaon near Demow, set a record for creating an Assamese miniature manuscript painting on a canvas measuring approximately 14 feet in length and four feet in width.

In August, another sad news came when the dead body of Bishal (Kopil) Borah, of Chakalapathar Gaon near Demow, was recovered from Moran Tea Estate.

In November, Deven Majhi, a fourth-grade employee of Hem Chandra Borgohain Model English High School, passed away and Nipu Dey, a clothes businessman of Demow and resident of Demow Santipur, died in a road accident.

In December, Kishore Prasad, a jewellery businessman died. In the same month, Haren Murari was killed by wild elephants in Nabil near Demow.
