JAGIROAD: The Morigaon District Committee of Sadao Asom Ahom Sabha was formed in a meeting on Monday at Baghjap, near Jagiroad. The meeting was chaired by prominent social worker Michika Gogoi. A 41 member committee of the Sabha was formed with Sunil Gogoi as the president, Dalim Phukan as vice president, Dibyajit Chetia as the secretary and Deep Gohain as the organizing secretary.
The meeting discussed about the deprived constitutional benefits of the community and called upon the government to provide all the constitutional facilities to the heritage Ahom community in this regard. While addressing from the chair, Michika Gogoi urged the office bearers of the newly formed Ahom Sabha Morigaon District Committee to continue working faithfully for the benefit of the community.
He also urged everyone to pay attention to the preservation of the ancient resources of the Ahom people scattered in different parts of the flood-affected Morigaon district.
The meeting was attended by former professor of Jagiroad College Paban Chandra Gogoi, former district secretary Bhadra Gohain, social worker Dwijen Gogoi, Kandarpa Gogoi, Krishna Nanda Burhagohain and Pradip Gogoi amongst others.
