Deshbhakti Diwas observed across Assam in tribute to Tarun Ram Phukan

HAFLONG: Deshbhakti Diwas was solemnly observed today at the auditorium hall of Haflong Government College, Dima Hasao, to mark the death anniversary of renowned freedom fighter Tarun Ram Phukan. The event was graced by North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) Chairman Mohet Hojai, Executive Members Samuel Changsan, Donphainon Thaosen, Niranjan Hojai, and Member of Autonomous Council Dhriti Thaosen. District Commissioner Munindra Nath Ngatey was also present on the occasion.

The programme began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by floral tributes to the portrait of Deshbhakt Tarun Ram Phukan by the dignitaries.

KHERONI: The Karbi Anglong District Administration observed Desh Bhakti Divas today at 12:00 PM at the Circuit House, Diphu, to commemorate the death anniversary of revered freedom fighter Desh Bhakt Tarun Ram Phookan and to honour his invaluable contributions to India’s struggle for independence.

The programme featured distinguished resource persons, including Padma Shri Dhaneswar Engti, Everester Khorsing Terang, writer Bhabha Prasad Deori, Dr. Monalisa Rongpipi of Diphu Government College, senior journalist Sonju Bora, and On Teron as resource person. In their insightful speeches, the speakers highlighted Tarun Ram Phookan’s pivotal role in India’s freedom movement, his literary contributions, remarkable personality, and unwavering dedication to national service. They emphasized the importance of his legacy as an inspiration for today’s youth to uphold the values of patriotism and unity.

TEZPUR: Deshbhakti Divas was observed in Sonitpur district on Monday, in line with the rest of the state, to commemorate the death anniversary of eminent freedom fighter and patriot Tarun Ram Phookun. The event was organized by the Office of the District Commissioner, Sonitpur in association with the District Information and Public Relations Office, Sonitpur. The observance was held at the Conference Hall-I of the District Commissioner’s Office.

BONGAIGAON: Observing death day of Desbhakta Tarunram Phukan as “Desvakti Diwas”, Bongaigaon district administration also observed it today in befitting manner.

In this connection, a meeting is organized by Bongaigaon district administration at DC Office conference hall. The program started with floral tribute and lightening lamp in the portrait of Desvakta  Tarunram Phukan. ADC  Dhrubajyoti Das conducted the whole programme.

BARPETA: Tarun Ram Phukan, the renowned freedom fighter from Assam who played a pivotal role in India’s freedom struggle, was remembered in Barpeta, Assam, on the occasion of “Desh Bhakti Diwas.” Every year since 2021, the Government of Assam has observed Phukan’s death anniversary (July 28) as “Desh Bhakti Diwas.”

The event was attended by Additional District Commissioner Jayanta Bora, ACS, who chaired the event, while eminent litterateur Akshay Kumar Misra, who served as the chief guest.  Students, teachers, and the members of the general public were also a part of the event.

Veteran Journalist,literateur Akshay Kr Misra, Kalaguru and Siksharatna awardee, spoke about the history of nationalism in India, and in Assam and the immense sacrifices made by Tarun Ram  Phukan during the freedom struggle.

He spoke about Tarun Ram Phukan’s contribution to the Indian freedom struggle and hailed his leadership abilities.

He depicted a portrait of the man behind the freedom fighter and stressed that Assam, the land of Lachit Borphukan, has a rich tradition of patriotism.

ADC Jayanta Bora admired the initiative undertaken by the Government of Assam to honour Freedom fighter Tarun Ram Phukan and encouraged the people to emulate the sacrifices and patriotism of Phukan.

The event was organized collaboratively by the District Administration, Barpeta, and Office of the DIPRO, Barpeta.
