DIBRUGARH: Despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic situation, Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited (BCPL) has been able to successfully and safely operate at more than 100 per cent capacity during the year 2020-21. Disclosing this before the media persons during an interactive session recently, the Managing Director (M.D), BCPL, Reep Hazarika claimed, "The company has achieved turnover of Rs 2819 crore (unaudited) in the financial year 2020-21." Hazarika further stated that with achievement of 106 per cent capacity utilization BCPL produced 2.86 lakh MT of polymers and 60145 MT liquid hydro-carbons during year 2020-21 which were marketed to downstream industries achieving Polymer sales of 3.06 lakh MT.

The BCPL, through various initiatives overcome the challenges relating to feedstock and other issues, has witnessed improvement and has been successful in ensuring stable and sustained operation of the plant, Hazarika said. He further stated that the company has been trying to explore new sources of feedstock and debottlenecking exercise in order to further increase of polymer capacity, which according to Hazarika will improve the market hold and margins

BCPL M.D hoped that the environment clearance would be received by the end of the running month for undergoing project work of new value addition plants-Butene-1 and 2nd stage Hydrogenation of Pyrolysis Gasoline (HPG). Meanwhile, the tenders for selection of licensors for both the projects have already been floated, Hazarika stated.

Answering a query, BCPL M.D disclosed that the company has recently signed an MOU with Deputy Commissioner, Dibrugarh and Principal, Assam Medical College & Hospitals (AMC&H) for renovating and upgrading the causality department of AMC&H with state of the art equipments under its CSR programme. "The company also tied up with Central Institute of Petro-chemicals Engineering and Technology (CIPET), Guwahati towards implementation of various projects and activities in Dibrugarh district, majority of which will be undertaken in Health and Nutrition areas as per guidelines of Department of Public enterprises," he added. Director (Finance, Prithiviraj Das, CJM (H.R) Ashit Das also participated in the interactive session.

Senior CJM Pranjal Changmai while participating in the session informed that the National Safety Council awarded the BCPL with the Certificate of Appreciation for maintaining a safe and secure environment besides a number of awards including prestigious India's best company of the year 2020.

The entire interactive session was moderated by Lovita Das. Earlier, the Manager CSR, Jayanta Baruah welcomed the media persons and others while Joyeeta Das offered the vote of thanks.
