Dibrugarh DC Pallav Gopal Jha reviews construction, strengthening works of embankments

Dibrugarh: Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha reviewed construction and strengthening works of embankments in flood and erosion-prone areas of the district at a meeting held at the DC conference room.

He instructed the circle officers to assess the progress of undergoing flood and erosion protection work of the Water Resource Department in last year’s flood-affected Rohmoria, Kolakhowa, Haldibari, Bogoritolia, Mulukgaon and other areas of the district.

He also asked them to regularly monitor such work and to identify probable flood-prone areas in their respective circles and submit a list of those areas either to the district administration or the Water Resource Department.

Keeping in view imminent problems arising due to rain fed water blockage in town areas during the rainy season, Jha asked the Water Resource Department to take early steps for cleaning of town protection drains

The meeting was also attended, amongst other, by District Development Commissioner Sanjay Dutta and Additional Deputy Commissioner Dipu Kumar Deka.

Addressing the meeting, District Development Commissioner Dutta called upon the Water Resource Department to report to the district administration if the department faced any difficulty in transporting materials needed for ongoing flood protection works.

Circle Officers of respective revenue circles were asked to create awareness in association with the Health and Public Health Engineering Department on adherence to COVID-19 protocol among the people, who in the wake of flood were likely to shift and stay in the makeshift relief camps.
