Dibrugarh Officer-In Charge Educates Students on Road Safety and Social Awareness

DIBRUGARH: Raju B. Chetri, Officer-in-Charge of Dibrugarh Police Station, recently engaged with students of classes V, VI, and VII at VKV Dibrugarh, focusing on the importance of road safety and social awareness.

Chetri emphasized crucial traffic rules, urging students to adopt responsible pedestrian behavior and follow traffic regulations to prevent accidents.

Besides road safety, he gave important information on basic sex education to help students learn about personal safety and well-being.

Chetri also encouraged students to consider a future in law enforcement. He shared insights into the police profession, stressing its role in nation-building, and motivated the students to serve society with dedication.

Earlier, the District Road Safety Committee meeting was held today under the chairmanship of District Commissioner Ankur Bharali in the Conference Hall of the District Commissioner’s office, Sonitpur, Tezpur. The meeting was also attended by Superintendent of Police, Sonitpur Barun Purkayastha.

Welcoming all the stakeholders, DC Bharali reviewed the activities undertaken in the district in alignment with the observance of National Road Safety Month 2025, which was to be observed from 1st January to 31st January 2025.

The District Transport Officer shared important actions taken during the month, such as awareness drives in schools and transport associations. He also mentioned health and eye check-ups for drivers, helpers, and other people involved in transportation.

He also mentioned that awareness programs and quiz competitions were held in five schools. Leaflets were distributed, and awareness campaigns took place in busy traffic areas and rural areas. Public announcements were made using loudspeakers and mobile vans, and banners and posters were displayed to spread the message.
