Dibrugarh SP Subashini Sankaran transferred over Tazia incident

DIBRUGARH: Just two days after the abominable vandalism incident during the Tazia processions, Superintendent of Police (SP) of Dibrugarh, Subashini Sankaran, IPS (RR-2011) was transferred to 10th Assam Police Battalion, Kahilipara on Friday. Gautam Bora, APS (DR-1995), has been posted as the new SP of Dibrugarh. Given that the transfer came in shortly after the incident of hooliganism, many people are responding differently to it.

SP Shankaran had managed to grow popular and earned admiration from various quarters because of her crackdown on cattle smuggling and seizure of illegal drugs. The Dibrugarh Police were able to apprehend many cattle smugglers and confiscate huge volumes of drugs from different areas after she took charge as SP. Only recently, a huge quantum of heroin, probably worth more than a crore of rupees, was seized from the Kalibari area of the town.
