Haflong: Demanding a correct and flawless NRC for the greater interest of Assam in particular and India in general, the Dima Hasao Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) submitted a memorandum to the State coordinator of NRC, through the Deputy Commissioner of Dima Hasao on Wednesday.

The memorandum stated that since a long time original inhabitants of Assam had been demanding an illegal foreigner-free Assam by updating the NRC to protect Assam as well as India from demographic invasion.

Under the supervision of the Supreme Court, the process of updating of NRC had been initiated and it would end on August 31. “However, it appears that the updating process of NRC has a lot of anomalies and procedural loopholes. As a result, the names of genuine citizens of Assam and India have not been included in the provisional NRC published earlier. On the other hand, the names of illegal infiltrators have been included in it. Consequent upon this, different social organizations have complained that the provisional NRC has not fulfilled the main purpose of the grant exercise of updating the NRC,” stated the memorandum.

ABVP therefore, strongly demanded a correct and flawless NRC for the greater interest of Assam in particular and India in general.

TINSUKIA: The Tinsukia Town Committee of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) organized a protest rally demanding an error-free NRC and staged a demonstration in front of the Tinsukia DC office before submitting a memorandum to the State NRC Coordinator through the Deputy Commissioner on Wednesday. Expressing serious concern over omission of indigenous people of Assam and inclusion of Bangladesh-origin Muslim people, besides several anomalies in the draft list, the ABVP demanded of the NRC coordinator to publish a correct list else the organization would resort to agitation, the memorandum stated.
