Dima Hasao celebrates 400th birth anniversary of Bir Lachit Barphukan

HAFLONG: The 400th birth anniversary of Bir Lachit Barphukan organised by the Dima Hasao district administration is being celebrated with weeklong programmes in Dima Hasao. On Friday, the Dima Hasao district administration organised an auto rally at Haflong which was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner Nazreen Ahmed. The rally which started from cultural institutions passed through major parts of Haflong town.
More than 100 participants took part in the rally celebrating the event. The Dima Hasao police organised a spectacular march past at Haflong, the district head quarters of Dima Hasao on Friday. The march past comprising District Police, 5th APBn Assam Rifles, Home Guards, F&ES, APRO, NCC boys and girls and Scout boys and girls passed through the beautiful Haflong town starting from main auto stand and concluded in front the NCHills Autonomous Council office.
SP Mayenk Kumar and Commandant 5th APBN L Doungel offered floral tribute at the portrait of Bir Lachit Barphukan. More than four hundred uniformed personnel took part in the march past.
