SIVASAGAR: With a view to make the heritage town Sivasagar clean and beautiful, the Sivasagar district administration held a meeting with various departments on Thursday.

Chairing the meeting, Additional Deputy Commissioner Bitupan Neog urged the departments concerned to quickly complete the beautification work of the park near Dikhow Bridge. Neog urged the Soil Conservation department to chop off the unwanted branches of trees at the park and whitewash the tree trunks to catch attention of the people. Since the garbage heaped inside the park and the broken boundary wall of the park have become a cause of concern for the people, the Additional Deputy Commissioner urged the Executive Officer of the Sivasagar Municipal Board to take immediate steps to remove the garbage and execute repairing work of the boundary wall of the park.

On the issue of several broken cement slabs along the pavements at Central Market area of the town, Neog also asked the Executive Officer to prioritize footpath repairs and ensure that broken slabs were repaired before the forthcoming Independence Day. Neog also requested the Executive Engineer of Sivasagar and Thowra Territorial Road Division to repair the damaged part of signboard of Dr. Moidul Islam Bora Setu over Dikhow River and to paint the Setu.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner requested various banks to come forward and extend help in the beautification of the heritage town by executing development works of the various parks allotted to them. Neog reiterated that the beautification of the heritage town was a priority for the district administration, for which various steps were being taken to make the town clean and beautiful.
